Searching
If you know the order
code you are searching for follow the steps below:-
Code Search

found on the top of every page. Enter the order code you are looking for in the field provided.

search does not recognise your stock code, try using the

Searching
when the order code is unknown
If you want to search for a product but do not know the
stock code, you can use the Product Index or Keyword Search . Just follow any of the
guides below.
Product Index

This is
displayed on the left-hand side of every page |

It will allow
you to scroll through our catalogue sections to find the item you require. |
|
To look for a
printer you would select the section "Computers" and then select a category from the next
sub-section. |

A list of
possible products will then appear at the end. |
|
Further
information on a particular item can be obtained by clicking on the product of interest.

Keyword
Search |
|
This is
accessible at the top of every page. |
|
Enter an item
to search for in the field provided e.g. scanner. |
|
A list of
possible items will then appear. |
|
Click on the
item of interest. |
|
There are
limitations with this search facility as if the word "scanners" was entered, a different list of
items would appear. Therefore in order to make the most of your search, please use more than one
combination before deciding what item you require. |

Advanced Search (Live Internet site
only)
This is situated
within the top menu of every page. It will allow you to search in more detail by using the
following: Project Finder - Allows you to search for an area of interest e.g. Robotics. All
products related to this subject will appear. Semiconductor - Enter the type you're looking for and
press "Go". Capacitor Finder - Enter the value you're looking for and press "Go". Manufacturer
Finder - Use this option if you're only looking for products by a specific
manufacturer.
Ordering
using the Maplin web site www.maplin.co.uk If you connect directly to the Maplin Web site, all
of the above instructions and facilities still apply, but as you are connected directly to our
interactive ordering system, you also have the following advantages on a line by line basis (note
that orders created using the CDROM catalogue will still be placed via the Web site (if not printed
and posted). Those who have created an order using the CD and wishing to know how to proceed should
click on the help button.
Price and
Availability (Maplin Website only)
The prices shown througout the CD should only be treated
as a guide. For the latest prices and availability you will need to go on-line to the Maplin
Website One of the advantages of shopping on the Maplin site is that we can tell you whether we
have the stock you require. Once you have found the product you want, by clicking on "more info"
the price and availability will also appear.
Back Orders
(Maplin Website only)
If the item you require is out of stock, you can record it as a back
order. This will then be sent out to you as soon as stock is available.

How to Place an
Order
If you know the Maplin stock code(s) of the item(s) that you require, follow
the steps below: - |

Enter a stock
code in the field provided at the top of every page. |

Click on "more
info" to confirm the price and availability. |
| 3. |
Enter the
quantity required and click the "add" icon. Repeat steps 1 to 3 to add further items to your
shopping basket. (You can amend or view your shopping basket at any time by clicking on the icon at
the top of the screen). |
| 4. |
Click on
checkout to proceed with the order. |
| 5. |
Follow the on screen instructions for your method of ordering. |

If you want to
place an order but do not know the Maplin stock code(s), follow the steps below:

search facilities to find the product you want e.g. the product index which is located within the
left hand menu of every page. For more searching options refer to our help guide under the section
"How to Search". |

Click on the
sub-sections within the index to search for your product. |
| 3. |
A list of
possible items will then appear. Click on the product of interest or select the "more info" icon to
display the price and availability. |
| 4. |
Enter the
quantity required and then click on the "add to basket" icon or press return. Repeat steps 2 to 5
to search for further items. (You can amend or view your shopping basket at any time by clicking on
the icon at the top of the screen). |

Click on
checkout to proceed with the order. |

Follow the on screen instructions for your method of ordering. |

If you want to
order a number of items and you know the stock codes follow the steps below: - |

Click on the
"Fast Order Form" which is located within the
top menu of every page. |

Enter the
stock codes and quantities and press "go". |

Contact with
the Maplin Website will be made and confirmation of items ordered and their availability will
appear. Click on "checkout" to proceed with the order. |

Shopping
Basket
If you have lost track of what you have ordered or have changed your mind about
something, you can access your shopping basket
at any time by clicking on the icon at the top of the screen. This will allow you to amend or
delete the contents.
Delivery UK
Orders
We provide a free delivery service to business customers and retail customers if the
order value exceeds £30, including VAT. A small order charge of £2.50 will otherwise be
applicable. All UK orders placed before 7 p.m. will be despatched the same day. Extra costs will
apply if a guaranteed or special delivery is requested.
International
Orders
All international orders are subject to a carriage charge that is calculated by
measuring the final weight of an order.
Technical
Info - PDF files
To access our PDF files, click on the help
menu located at the top of the screen. The files are listed alphanumerically, however, a full index
will be available in the near future.
